Unlike most supply chain executives, Keri McCrensky, vice president of supply chain for Steward Health Care, did not cut her teeth handling various issues with ordering and pricing that inevitably come up in supply chain management. Instead, she started her career in healthcare IT and data analytics, which gave her significant experience in creating interfaces and building infrastructure designed to streamline complex tasks such as managing contracts and purchase orders.


St. Lukes

St. Luke’s University Health Network in Pennsylvania uses supply chain standardization

Few healthcare systems around the country are growing as rapidly as St. Luke University Health Network in eastern Pennsylvania. Within the past few months, the seven-hospital health network announced plans to merge with Sacred Heart Hospital and Blue Mountain Health System, which will add three more hospitals to its system, and announced plans to build another hospital in Orwigsburg, Pa.

Some hospitals have to work with hundreds of vendors to keep their hospital equipment running, adds Kate Shafer, director of marketing and communications. The customer knows they can use the same ordering process for everything they need and PartsSource acts as part of their supply chain.
